Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. Phorium is designed to give you control over your data. We only collect what's necessary to provide the service and never sell your personal information.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: Email address and display name when you register
- Photos: Images you choose to analyze (processed temporarily, stored only if you save)
- Analysis results: AI-generated analyses you choose to save
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: Daily analysis count, total analyses completed
- Device information: iOS version, device model (collected by Firebase)
- Subscription status: Whether you have an active Pro subscription
- Crash reports: Technical error logs via Firebase Crashlytics
Guest users
If you use Phorium as a guest, we store usage counts locally on your device only (via UserDefaults). No account is created and no data is sent to our servers until you register.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the photo analysis service
- To authenticate you and manage your account
- To enforce daily usage limits
- To process in-app purchases (handled by Apple)
- To display relevant advertisements to free users (via Google AdMob)
- To sync your saved analyses across your devices
- To send important service notifications
3. Photo Processing
When you analyze a photo:
- Your photo is converted to a base64 format and sent to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis
- Anthropic processes the image according to their Privacy Policy
- The photo is not stored on our servers unless you explicitly choose to save the result
- When saved, photos are stored in Firebase Storage under your user ID
- You can delete saved analyses and their associated images at any time
4. Data Storage
Your data is stored using Firebase services (Google LLC) in accordance with their privacy terms:
- Firebase Authentication: Email and hashed password
- Cloud Firestore: User profile, usage statistics, saved analyses
- Firebase Storage: Photo images for saved analyses
- Firebase Remote Config: App configuration (no personal data)
5. Third-Party Services
Anthropic (Claude API)
Photos are processed by Anthropic's Claude AI. Anthropic may process images according to their terms. We recommend reviewing Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Google AdMob
Free users see advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and ad interaction data. You can limit ad tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy → Advertising. Pro subscribers see no ads.
Apple (StoreKit)
In-app purchases are processed by Apple. We receive confirmation of purchase status but do not receive your payment details.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share data only:
- With service providers (Firebase, Anthropic) necessary to operate the app
- When required by law or to protect our legal rights
- In the event of a business transfer (merger/acquisition) with notice
7. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained while your account is active
- Saved analyses: Retained until you delete them or your account
- Usage logs: Retained for 90 days
- Upon account deletion, all your data is permanently removed within 30 days
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: View all data we have about you
- Correction: Update inaccurate personal information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all data
- Export: Request a copy of your data
- Opt-out: Limit ad tracking through iOS privacy settings

9. Children's Privacy
Phorium is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us immediately.
10. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Firebase Authentication with secure password hashing
- HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
- Firebase Security Rules to protect your Firestore and Storage data
- No plain-text password storage
11. International Transfers
Your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using Phorium, you consent to this transfer.
12. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under CCPA, including the right to know, delete, and opt-out of sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Contact us at privacy@phorium.app for CCPA requests.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
